Mario Balotelli's Liverpool nightmare could soon be at an end after Lazio made a loan bid for the striker.
Balotelli has failed to settle down since completing a £16 million
switch from AC Milan last summer, and is yet to find the back of the net
in the Premier League.
Brendan Rodgers had planned to pair the former Manchester City man
with Daniel Sturridge following Luis Suarez's departure to Barcelona,
but is now ready to part ways with Balotelli in order to focus on
developing his new 3-4-3 formation.
According to reports, Lazio want Balotelli to return to the Serie A
for the final six months of the season, and are even ready to pay as
much as £2 million for his signature.
Balotelli has a number of teams chasing him this month, with Italian duo Juventus and Parma also keeping tabs on the situation.
Greek outfit Olympiakos are believed to have been rejected by
Balotelli well over a week ago after offering a temporary sanctuary, but
regardless of the striker's future for the remainder of the campaign,
an early return for Lille forward Divock Origi looks unlikely.
Sturridge is on the verge of a return from injury, whilst Rickie
Lambert, Fabio Borini and Raheem Sterling have all proved themselves
capable of picking up the odd goal in recent times.
