Procrastinated Love

Procrastinated Love       Written April 12th 2011 by Jokpeme Joseph Omode
I have been waiting patiently
For the right time to proclaim my intimate intentions.
I have been looking and admiring you
Without saying a word.

I have been observing and thinking
About the kind of person you are,
And the kind of person you will be
From time to time.

I have been dumbfounded all this while at your presence;
I have been like a coward
Who cannot proclaim his intimate intention.
Oh no! Procrastination is really a thief of time.

I have been studying you from time to time;
Sometimes I feel like drowning in the ocean of love
Until I learn to swim
But I’m sorry I could not.

I have been waiting patiently
Until I begin to run out of patience.
Your presence pleases my heart
That your absence makes my heart grow fonder.

Poor me!
Oh my love is like a red rose,
That’s newly sprung in June.
But I fail to express it.

My love is like the melody,
That’s sweetly played in tunes.
But I have failed to express it;
And I am now stolen by jealousy.

I have been crowded with thoughts of jealousy
That makes me find fault.
Why did this happen to me?
Why did love did this to me?

Why did I delay to express it?
Why I’m I not myself?
It is better to have loved and lost
Than never to have loved at all.

I was engulfed with an unprecedented emotion
That I had to project an air of calm self-confidence
To project my kind love
As a person worth listening to.
