Insecurity has been degraded. Problems in Benue and Plateau have gone down - Presidential aide, Daniel Bwala

The Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, says insecurity across Nigeria, especially in previously volatile areas like Benue and Plateau States, has been significantly reduced by the government of the day.

According to him, efforts by the government have helped improve safety and reduce violent incidents.

In a chat with Channels TV on Wednesday, July 30, Bwala said that incidents linked to unknown gunmen, IPOB activities, and kidnappings have decreased noticeably.

While he acknowledged that criminality still exists, Bwala argued that these acts are now more about general lawlessness rather than a reflection of poor governance.

In his words

‘’Look at the fundamentals. Number one promise he made is security of life and the welfare of the people shall be the responsibility of government.''

When asked if the President has kept this promise, he responded

‘’Yes! Look at us having a programme like this. Before, you know how you would have moved in this country. Let me ask you, recently we have been having series of problem in Benue, has it not gone done? We have had in Plateau state, has it not gone down? Look at the IPOB/Unknown gunmen…you know in 2022/2023, the case of murders there…you know how their kidnapping people come into people's houses in the heart of the town. Ransom and all.

Insecurity has been degraded to a large extent.

What we are seeing now is criminal tendencies that has no relationship with whether somebody is governing well or not because it exists in every part of this world''
