Massive fierce snowstorm has hit the Russian capital, Moscow, delaying more than 150 flights

The massive storm started in Moscow early on Thursday, with the Russian Meteorological Office saying it expects up to four inches of snow in the city in a single day.The fierce snowstorm has hit the Russian capital, Moscow, delaying more than 150 flights and bringing traffic to a standstill.
Reports say officials have deployed some 10,000 snow plows to clear the streets.

The situation caused severe delays in Moscow’s three major airports, but none of them were shut down. Dozens of planes could not land and were diverted to other airports.
The traffic monitoring service also reported that the congestion in the Russian capital reached the record-high 10 points in early afternoon.
Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said several cabinet ministers were stuck in traffic on Thursday and were late for the last government session in 2014.
Unlike in some Western European capitals, snowstorms in the Russian city hardly ever disrupt public transport or paralyze air travel.
