T2 launches Nigeria’s first electronic KYC SIM registration web app

T2, formerly known as 9mobile, has rolled out an electronic Know Your Customer (eKYC) SIM Registration Web App, described as the first of its kind in Nigeria.

The innovation is designed to overhaul the SIM registration process, offering a quicker, simpler and more secure system for customers and partners across the country.

The web-based application provides a seamless onboarding experience for individuals, corporate clients, foreign users, agents and retail partners. It has been optimised to function smoothly on any smartphone, including in areas with weak network coverage, which ensures broader accessibility.

Fully compliant with Nigeria’s SIM registration regulations, the eKYC platform guarantees secure and accurate enrolment. Its key features include real-time image capture, instant ID verification and direct integration with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) database, enabling swift authentication.

Ayodeji Adedeji, Chief Technical and Information Officer at T2, described the product as a flagship innovation that will cut registration turnaround times and reinforce regulatory compliance.

“We are excited to introduce this groundbreaking solution to our customers and partners,” he said.

T2 said the launch represents a major milestone in its drive for innovation and customer satisfaction. The company’s brand rests on four pillars: Fast Connectivity, Smart Lifestyle, Creative Energy and Trust, which it says reflect its mission to serve as the “digital heartbeat of a rising generation” while empowering Nigerians to thrive in a connected world.

The firm added that the new app will enrich the customer experience across its retail network and advance its goal of making digital services more user-friendly and widely accessible.
