Governor Ademola Adeleke has no alliance with African Democratic Congress — Olawale Rasheed

Governor Ademola Adeleke has no intention of leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), his spokesperson, Mr Olawale Rasheed, clarified on Friday.

Responding to recent reports and media inquiries suggesting that the Osun State Governor may be considering defection ahead of the 2026 elections, Rasheed described the speculation as baseless and misleading.

“There is no truth in those publications and speculations,” he said in a statement issued in Osogbo. “Governor Adeleke remains firmly in the PDP and will contest the 2026 governorship election under the same platform.”

He added that the Governor is confident of a decisive victory, citing widespread support from the Osun electorate and what he described as Adeleke’s ongoing developmental strides across the state.

The statement noted: “Our attention has been drawn to news reports and media enquiries about the purported defection of Governor Adeleke to the ADC or alleged alignment with prominent figures in that party. Nothing could be further from the truth.

“Firstly, the PDP in Osun has already adopted and endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election. There is, therefore, no alliance with the ADC.

“Secondly, Governor Adeleke has no ties whatsoever with any individual or faction within the ADC. He remains committed to the PDP and will run under its banner in 2026.”

Rasheed maintained that the Governor’s popularity stems from what he described as consistent, people-oriented governance.

“The Osun electorate supports Governor Adeleke because of his impressive performance since assuming office. That good work is ongoing, and the people are committed to sustaining the delivery of good governance by re-electing him in 2026,” he stated.

He also encouraged members of the PDP to continue their efforts to strengthen party structures at all levels in preparation for what he described as another resounding victory.

“Governor Adeleke calls on all PDP members to stay focused on reinforcing the party across the state, to ensure a smooth path to success in next year’s polls,” the statement concluded.
