African Democratic Congress youth wing warns Tinubu against manipulating INEC leadership

…Vows to defeat APC in 2027

The youth wing of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has cautioned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu against attempting to influence the appointment of the next Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), insisting that partisan interference will not deter their determination to win the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on Tuesday under the platform of the African Democratic Youth Congress (ADYC), the group declared that even if Tinubu were to nominate his media aide, Bayo Onanuga, as INEC Chairman, they would still mobilise to secure electoral victories across the country.

ADYC leaders, including National Coordinator Ruqayya Lamido Dodo and Director General Murtala Haliru Dantoro, vowed to rally members nationwide to safeguard votes from the polling units through to the final collation centres.

Dantoro described recent bye-elections as “a show of shame” and condemned widespread vote-buying, pointing to Niger State where voters were allegedly induced with as little as N2,000.

The group maintained that the next INEC Chairman must embody integrity and place the nation’s interest above political or ethnic loyalties. “If the president is going to appoint the next INEC chairman, he should put Nigeria first,” the ADYC declared.

Mrs Dodo added that young Nigerians are resolved to end years of exclusion from key national decision-making. “Our generation is tired of being spectators in a nation that belongs to us,” she stated.
