2027 Election: I have not anointed any governorship aspirant — Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has rejected claims that he has endorsed any of the 28 aspirants seeking to succeed him in the 2027 governorship race, describing such reports as “mere speculation.”

Speaking in Lafia on Thursday while hosting members of the Forum of Former Local Government Council Chairmen (FFLGCC) and the Forum of Former Local Government Councillors (FFLGC), Mr Sule said his backing would be reserved for an aspirant capable of sustaining and expanding his administration’s development agenda beyond his tenure.

“That is why, if anybody tells you that I am supporting this person or that person, it’s just grammar. People are just telling their stories. At one time, they said I was supporting the Accountant General. Then, at another point, they said it is Wadada.

“Then, at one point, they said it is Faisal. If you see people running back and forth like this, you know there is no truth in any of this. It is just speculation,” the governor said.

He noted that Nasarawa possessed “enormous potentialities” and pledged to only support a candidate who could harness them effectively for the benefit of the people.

Mr Sule reaffirmed that his administration would continue to implement policies and programmes with tangible impact on residents’ lives until the completion of his term.

Earlier, the leaders of the visiting delegations, Mr Musa Adamu Sa’idu for the FFLGCC and Mr Hashimu Abubakar for the FFLGC, commended the governor for what they described as his “sterling leadership” and commitment to inclusive governance. They pledged continued loyalty and support to ensure the success of his administration.
