Nigeria defeats hosts nation Morocco to win WAFCON title for the 10th time

 The Super Falcons of Nigeria have defeated the host nation, Morocco, to win the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) with a 3 - 2 scoreline.

 

Chebbak opened the scoring for Morocco with a stunning effort from the edge of the box in the 12th minute.

 

In the 24th minute, Sanaâ Mssoudy added a second goal for Morocco after beating Michelle Alozie in the box before producing a low finish pass to Chiamaka Nnadozie to make it 2-0.

 

 

The Super Falcons came out of the second half with an improved performance to change the scoreline.

 

Esther Okoronkwo broke the deadlock for Nigeria in the second half with a fine penalty to reduce the deficit for the Super Falcons in the 64th minute.

 

 


In the 71st minute, Folashade Ijamilusi made it 2-2 with a close-range finish.

 

 

Substitute Jennifer Echegini scored the winning goal for Nigeria in the 88th minute with a clinical finish to seal a 3-2 win, and secure the 10th continental title for Nigeria.
