I Never Accused Anyone Of Killing Mohbad – Nollywood Actress Iyabo Ojo

Nollywood actress and activist Iyabo Ojo has released a detailed statement addressing the growing backlash, threats, and legal scrutiny she has faced following her involvement in the ongoing investigation into the death of singer Mohbad (Ilerioluwa Aloba). Eyes Of Lagos reports,

In a public declaration shared on her Instagram page, Iyabo made it clear that she never accused anyone of being responsible for Mohbad’s death, contrary to claims circulating online.

According to her, her viral live video from years back—which has now prompted a police invitation by the Nigeria Police Force Cybercrime Centre in Abuja—was a call for transparency and accountability, not an accusation.

“In that video, I requested certain individuals to make themselves available for investigation into the sudden death of Mohbad… All of these steps clearly point to the fact that I never affirmed that Mohbad’s death was caused by any specific individual,” she explained.

Calls for Justice, Not Accusation

Ojo revealed that her NGO, Pinkies Foundation, had officially written to government officials, including the Governor of Lagos State, Attorney General, Police Commissioner, and lawmakers, requesting an independent investigation and coroner’s inquest.

She stressed that while she was emotionally affected by disturbing videos related to Mohbad’s ordeal, she never interfered with police procedures, nor did she direct their investigative decisions.

Threats, Intimidation, and Personal Loss

In the lengthy 18-point statement, Iyabo lamented the personal toll of her activism. She disclosed receiving death threats, including a threatening letter days before her daughter’s wedding, and more recently, discovering coffins with her name and threatening videos circulating online.

“Certain individuals have, over the years, consistently called for my death… incited public violence against me and my children,” she wrote.

Adding to her distress, Ojo said her office was recently gutted by fire, and she has been emotionally and physically drained by the events.

Despite these setbacks, she reaffirmed her commitment to justice and advocacy:

“Despite everything, I trust that God will ultimately give me victory over adversity.”
