Governor Soludo Hails Super Falcons on Historic WAFCON Triumph

Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, has congratulated Nigeria’s Super Falcons following their thrilling victory over hosts Morocco to win the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Christian Aburime, Governor Soludo praised the Super Falcons for their resilience, determination, and exemplary performance during Saturday night’s final at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat, where they came from behind to defeat Morocco 3-2 and clinch their 10th WAFCON title.

Describing the performance as “spectacular and inspiring,” Soludo said the team’s comeback in the second half demonstrated the true Nigerian spirit of perseverance, hard work, and unshakable resolve in the face of adversity.

“This unforgettable comeback confirms the immense potential within Nigerian sports and serves as a beacon of hope and motivation to aspiring athletes across the country, especially young women,” Governor Soludo said.

He commended the entire squad—including players, technical crew, and support staff—for their collective effort in achieving the historic feat, adding that the win has brought pride and joy not only to Nigeria but to the entire African continent.

Governor Soludo emphasized Anambra State’s continued support for sports development and gender equality, noting that the Super Falcons’ triumph represents a major milestone in women's football and a reminder of what can be achieved through focus, preparation, and teamwork.

“As advocates of youth empowerment and gender inclusion in sports, we are particularly proud to witness this inspiring moment in Nigerian history,” he added.

The Governor joined millions of Nigerians, the Federal Government, and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in celebrating the Super Falcons' remarkable achievement and expressed hope for even greater victories in the future.
