A founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Professor Jerry Gana, says if Peter Obi runs as the flagbearer of the PDP in the 2027 elections, he will defeat any opponent he runs against in the North.
Gana stated this during an interview with Arise TV on Wednesday night, July 31.
His comments come amid speculations that Obi could return to the PDP to run as the party's presidential flagbearer in 2027.
According to Gana, Obi’s best bet of becoming president is to run under the PDP in the next general elections.
“I’m a researcher, and I research opinions. In the northern states, Peter Obi under the PDP will defeat any candidate, because our people are very fair-minded. In 2031, it will be the turn of the North. Our people are very fair and we are building a nation.”he said
Obi, the former governor of Anambra, resigned from the PDP on May 25, 2022, ahead of the 2023 elections. He was to participate in the PDP presidential primary scheduled for May 28, 2022, before he left the party.
On May 27, 2022, Obi joined the LP, where he became the standard-bearer and contested the 2023 presidential election where he came third.
