'Let's give you 20 million Euros' - Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan reveals what he could have told Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen

Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan has stirred headlines with a striking remark involving Galatasaray’s star striker Victor Osimhen, suggesting his club could have outbid their rivals but chose financial responsibility instead.

In a press briefing addressing Trabzonspor's financial strategy and current transfer affairs, Doğan highlighted the club’s decision to prioritize economic stability over high-profile spending.

“I could have said to Osimhen, ‘You went to Galatasaray for 15 million Euros, let’s give you 20 million Euros (approximately N36b in Nigerian currency), come to us,’” he stated.

“But instead of doing that, we chose to close the debt to the Banks Association. This is not the solution. It can be done, but it will not yield results.”

Doğan’s comments come as Galatasaray recently secured Osimhen, reportedly for €15 million, in a high-profile transfer.

The Nigerian forward’s move to the Istanbul club has generated significant attention, both for the financial scale and the sporting expectations surrounding him.

Doğan also revealed that Trabzonspor has received serious offers for several players.

“There are serious offers for five of our players. We can earn significant income from these names,” he said, without disclosing further details.

The Trabzonspor president emphasized that his club, which was the first to exit the Banking Union Agreement, remains focused on sustainable growth and financial discipline.

His remarks indirectly criticize the high-spending strategies employed by other Turkish clubs.
