Jigawa State government deploys secret monitors to check Ramadan feeding fraud

The Jigawa State Government has deployed secret monitors to track the distribution of meals under its Ramadan feeding scheme, warning food vendors against diversion and mismanagement.

This was contained in a statement released by the Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwal Sankara, on Wednesday in Dutse.

Sankara disclosed that the government had received reports of insufficient distribution of the approved quantity and quality of meals in 17 feeding centres.

According to him, some of the affected local government areas include Garki, Gumel, Guri, Gwiwa, and Hadejia.

Others are Jahun, Malam Madori, Roni, and Dutse local government areas.

“As the commissioner overseeing the free feeding project, I warn the vendors concerned to adhere to the set arrangements or risk sanctions,” he said.

“On behalf of the government, I further warn the vendors to be God-fearing and bear in mind that we have secret monitors overseeing the project.”

He further emphasized that the government would not tolerate any form of mismanagement.

Sankara urged all stakeholders to fulfil their obligations to ensure the effective implementation of the initiative, stressing that the government was committed to transparency and accountability.

Recall that the Jigawa government had disbursed N4.8 billion to designated feeding centres to fast-track the implementation of the 2025 Ramadan feeding scheme.
