Administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni Approves Employment Of 267 Health Technicians To Boost Yobe Health Sector

DAMATURU – In a bid to strengthen the healthcare system in Yobe State, Governor Mai Mala Buni has approved the employment of 267 health technicians. This move is aimed at enhancing manpower requirements in health facilities across the state.

The newly employed health technicians include 140 Buni Scholars who recently graduated in various fields of medical sciences in India. These scholars comprise 43 BSc Nursing, 43 BSc Pharmacy, 22 BSc Medical Laboratory Science, 24 BSc Radiology, 7 BSc Optometry, and 1 BSc Public Health graduates.

Additionally, 127 health technicians who have been serving as volunteers in health institutions across the state have also been formally employed. These technicians, who graduated earlier but were not formally employed, have been serving as volunteers in medical centers.

The Buni Scholars will be placed on CONHESS 8, while the volunteer technicians will be placed on CONHESS 6/2. This development is part of the Buni administration’s consistent efforts to improve personnel in medical facilities. Over the past five years, the administration has offered automatic employment to graduates of the state-owned Shehu Sule College of Nursing and Midwifery.

The Buni administration has also established primary healthcare centers in political wards across the state, upgraded general hospitals to specialist hospitals, and equipped the State Teaching Hospital with state-of-the-art equipment to make healthcare delivery accessible and affordable.

This significant investment in the healthcare sector is expected to boost the quality of healthcare services in Yobe State, ultimately benefiting the people of the state.
