Group of Brazilian mothers rally in support of ousted president Dilma Rousseff

A group of women in Brazil have gathered with their children in downtown Sao Paulo to show support for ousted president Dilma Rousseff.
The demonstrators gathered on Paulista Avenue in the city on Saturday to protest Rousseff’s removal from office and the installment of the newly-appointed President Michel Temer on August 31, 2016.
They demanded Temer’s resignation and the holding of snap elections.
In recent days, mass protests have been held in support of Rousseff, who was ousted after an impeachment trial described by her as essentially a “coup.” Clashes were reported during some of the protests between the demonstrators and police forces.
The Saturday protest, however, remained peaceful despite the obstruction of traffic on Paulista Avenue.
Temer, who was Rousseff’s vice president before turning into her opponent in the face of growing discontent against her, will complete Rousseff’s presidential term before the next election, which is due in late 2018.

Meanwhile, Rousseff has appealed to the Supreme Court to overturn the right-wing Senate’s decision for her ouster.
Rousseff, a leftist, was impeached for allegedly violating fiscal regulations by tampering the 2014 federal budget.
Roussef has repeatedly dismissed the allegation.
Her Workers Party is also implicated in a huge corruption scandal at the state-run energy company Petrobras.
Temer, the new president, also faces allegations of election violations.
