Three Niuean soldiers will be added to the New Zealand Roll of Honour at a ceremony in Niue this afternoon.
The event will mark a hundred years to the day since about 150 soldiers from the remote island left to serve in World War One.
Privates Alotau, Mitipauni and Muimatagi will be added to the roll for their service.
Heritage minister Maggie Barry says they deserve recognition for their service to New Zealand's military.
She says the three who were buried in Niue will now have their graves looked after, and they will get the recognition they deserve.
The men died from illnesses contracted during their service.
A lack of immunity to western diseases was one of the greatest dangers for Pacific Islanders serving in World War One.
