UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon to Visit Paraguay

Asuncion, Feb 16 (Prensa Latina) The Paraguayan government confirmed the forthcoming official visit to the country of the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon. Foreign Affairs Minister, Eladio Loizaga, stated that Ban will be in Paraguay on the 25 and 26 of this month and talked about some details of the agenda to be met during his stay.

Speaking to the local press he stated that the program includes exchanges on topics related to development once 2015 expires, the deadline for the fulfillment of the Millennium Goals, according to the UN Agreements.

Similarly, he added that he will talk about the role of Paraguay in the multilateral context, particularly with regard to developing countries landlocked, the group to which it belongs.

Ban will known Joint Training Center for Peacekeeping Operations of Paraguay and will visits the social programs that UN supports here.

The Center is an institution designed to train future members of peacekeeping missions of the UN, in which Paraguay participates with military displaced to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sudan, Cote d'Ivore, Western Sahara, Haiti and Cyprus.

Loizaga assured that another aspect to be analyzed in the meeting with the secretary general of the world body is the tense international situation especially referring to the recent events developed in the Middle East and other parts of the world.

The arrival of Ban Ki-moon will coincide match those of the Director General of the World Trade Organization, Roberto Azevedo, and a special adviser for Latin America sent by the president of France, François Hollande.
