Two people charged with plotting a Valentine's Day massacre at a mall
in the Canadian port of Halifax chose not to seek bail in their first
court appearance.
Lindsay Souvannarath, 23, and Randall Shepherd,
20, face charges of conspiracy to commit murder, arson and use a
dangerous weapon, as well as making threats over social media.
Police
alleged they planned to go on a shooting rampage at a mall in the port
city of Halifax, which is home to Canada's Atlantic fleet, and then
commit suicide.

After receiving a tip, police tracked them down
and arrested them at the Halifax airport. Shepherd was picking up
Souvannarath, who had arrived on a flight from her hometown of Geneva,
Illinois.
A third suspect, James Gamble, 19, was found dead at his parent's Halifax area home.
Souvannarath and Shepherd are expected to be back in court on March 6.
