Why should I mourn?

Do I have reasons to mourn? Why do people even mourn? It is so pathetic that people mourn for different reasons – loss of loved ones, possession or opportunity. Generally, no one likes mourning as an activity or attitude, but Jesus recommends mourning to His followers. However, he does not refer to every kind of mourning (because worldly sorrow only works out death). Those who mourn their spiritual poverty, who experience sorrow of repentance, who lament the sin that separate them from God etc. are blessed! They shall be comforted by God’s pardon. Godly sorrow in reference to sin leads to repentance and this often draw us nearer to God. Mourners shall be comforted.

How do you feel about your sins, inadequacies, unfaithfulness and weakness and that of other? Do you celebrate your sins as others do? Do you know that the wages of every sin is death? Mourn, weep, and wait for your stained relationship with God today! Your godly sorrow for days of mourning will soon end and God shall wipe away your tears and you will truly be comforted. Even now, you will get beauty for ashes, oil of joy for mourning, garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.
